sliding doors - repairs & faults
Replacement of wheels
  • Exceed franchise owners carry in their vans wheels for more than thirty types of door. It is the Exceed expectation that we complete this work in the one visit.
  • Exceed franchise owners also know that the weight of a sliding door can effect the ongoing reliability of many types of door wheel. They can fit the appropriate wheel to suit doors of any weight.

Replacement of damaged metal
  • Metal suffering physical damage may be replaceable, but is unlikely to be repairable. Exceed can assess and advise on the availability of replacement metal. If full replacement is required, Exceed can advise, and in some cases, complete the full replacement for you.

Re-glazing of broken panes of glass
  • Broken glass in a door can be replaced by Exceed with no fuss. There are strict standards to meet when re-glazing a door. Exceed can advise of the correct glass to go into a door to meet the Human Impact Standards.
  • For a sliding door re-glaze, it may be necessary to replace the wheels to accommodate an increase in weight from new thicker glass.

Replacement of damaged tracks
  • Tracks in sliding door frames often are damaged by broken wheels, to the point where track replacement is required. Most, but not all tracks can be replaced. Exceed can assess and advise on this repair.

Assessment and remedy of leaks
  • Remedy of leaks often can be very difficult. With our Best Practice Standards, Exceed can carry out assessments of leaks and make recommendations for possible remedy. While our 16 years of franchise experience give us confidence in our approach to the remedy leaks, in all cases however, the repair process is trial and error and a remedy cannot be guaranteed.
  • Exceed has prepared, in conjunction with the Ministry of Commerce, a Service Guarantee statement that covers our obligations under the Consumer Guarantee Act. Please read our service guarantee.

Replacement or installation of draft strips
  • Draft strips can be replaced in most doors. There are some older models of door and frame that used their own especially sized and extruded draft strips that are no longer available and cannot be replaced.
  • Installation of additional metal to hold standard sized draft strips may be possible. Exceed can assess and advise on the options available.

Replacement of rotten timber liners
  • For a number of reasons, timber liners around door frames can develop rot. These can be replaced without the need to remove the door frame from the wall.
  • Building Code requirements for installing the correct type of timber will be meet by an Exceed franchise owner completing this type of work.

Swimming Pool regulations
  • Doors opening into a swimming pool area may be required to have additional latches to meet Swimming Pool and Fencing Act requirements. Exceed can advise of the options available and supply and fit suitable locks and fit an auto closer as required.

Replacement of faulty or insecure locks
  • Faulty or insecure latches can be replaced with either surface mount or mortise style locks, providing benefits of greater security and ease of use.

Installation of latching or deadlocks
  • Self latching locks for sliding doors are usually mortise locks and may not be suitable for all makes and models of door. Exceed can assess and advise on the options available.
  • Surface mount dead locks can be fitted to most makes and model of sliding door.

Installation of vision tape for safety on large panels of glass
  • Clear larger panes of glass may be a safety hazard. Vision tapes applied to the surface of the glass make the clear area more visible.
  • Exceed can supply and install vision tapes as required.
